How to link/sync Astute’s App with a virtual assistant

Alexa and Google Assistant are AI-powered software applications designed to assist with various tasks using natural language commands.

Your devices must be set up (i.e. paired) in the CBI Home app before linking your Astute devices to a virtual assistant.

How to Set up

Step 1. Set up smart home devices

If you haven’t already done so, follow the steps to set up your Astute smart home devices.

Step 2. Connect smart home devices in the Google Home app

1. Open the Google Home app 
2. Tap Devices > Add > Works with Google
3. Search for “Tuya Smart” (not CBI)
4. To complete the setup, follow the in-app steps.
5. use your CBI app login details.

Tips to sync your Astute app with Google Assistant

Follow the steps to set a nickname for these devices and add them to a room. Then sync with a voice command.

Step 1: Rename devices in Google Assistant to the same as the CBI home app

1. Open the Google Home app
2. Tap and hold your device’s tile Settings , or More menu Settings .
3. Tap Name.
4. Enter a name and then tap Save.

Note: Nicknames are alternate ways to reference smart devices in the Google Home app. Any nicknames you assign on Google will not be changed in the CBI Home App.

Step 2: Assign devices to rooms

Create a new room

You can create a new room for a device that’s already in a room.

1. Open the Google Home app 
2. Tap Favorites or Devices
3. Tap and hold your device’s tile Settings, (or More Settings menu)
4. Tap Room or Placement.
5. Select a room under Create new 
6. Then tap Next.

Rename a room

1. Open the Google Home app 
2. Tap Settings
3. Open Devices, groups, & rooms.
4. Select the room you want to update.
5. Tap Name and type the new room name.
6. Then tap Save.

Delete a room

1. Open the Google Home app 
2. Tap Settings
3. Open Devices, groups, & rooms.
4. Select the room you want to delete.
5. Tap Delete room.

Note: When you delete a room, any devices in the room are removed from the room. You can add them to a different room.

Step 3: Sync Google Assistant with the CBI Home App settings.

With your voice

Say “Hey Google” or “Ok Google,” then:

• To sync all devices: “Sync my devices”
• To sync one device: “Sync my lights”

Important:

• You must have already set up your devices in the CBI home app
• If you sync multiple devices at once, you may receive a timeout error.
